Guest Guidelines for a Pleasant Stay

Cottage Rules & Regulations

Welcome to Granby Gold. We are delighted to have you stay with us and hope you enjoy a peaceful, comfortable and memorable experience in Kerala.

These rules are intended to ensure the safety, comfort and privacy of all guests, as well as to protect the cottage and its surroundings. By making a reservation and staying at the property, guests agree to comply with these rules and any reasonable instructions provided by the property owner or caretaker.

The management reserves the right to ask guests or visitors to leave the property, without refund or compensation where permitted by applicable law, in cases of serious or repeated violations, illegal activity, unsafe behaviour, excessive disturbance, or behaviour that may endanger other persons or cause damage to the property.

1. Check-in & Check-out

  1. Check-in: From 2:00 PM on the day of arrival.
  2. Check-out: By 11:00 AM on the day of departure.
  3. Guests arriving after the stated check-in time should inform the property manager/caretaker in advance.
  4. If a guest does not arrive on the scheduled arrival date and does not contact us, the reservation may be treated as a no-show and cancelled, subject to the applicable booking and cancellation policy.
  5. Early check-in or late check-out may be available upon request and is subject to availability. Additional charges may apply.
  6. Guests wishing to extend their stay should inform the property manager as early as possible, preferably before 10:00 AM on the scheduled departure day. Extensions are subject to availability.

2. Guests & Visitors

  1. Only the number of guests stated on the reservation may stay at the cottage. Any additional guest must be approved in advance and may be subject to an additional charge.
  2. Guests must provide accurate information about the number of people staying at the property.
  3. Visitors who are not registered guests are permitted only with prior approval from the property manager/caretaker.
  4. Registered guests are responsible for the conduct of their visitors and for any damage or disturbance caused by them.
  5. Guests may not transfer, sublet, or hand over the cottage to another person, even if the reservation has been paid for.
  6. The cottage may not be used for parties, events, commercial activities, or gatherings beyond the agreed number of guests without prior written permission.

3. Payment

  1. All accommodation charges and any additional approved charges must be paid according to the booking terms.
  2. Any additional charges arising during the stay, including for damages, missing items, excessive cleaning, or approved extra services, may be charged to the guest.
  3. Cash, bank transfer, UPI, or other payment methods accepted by the property may be used. Personal cheques are not accepted.

4. Smoking, Alcohol & Fire Safety

  1. Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the cottage. Guests may smoke only in designated outdoor areas, where provided.
  2. A cleaning or restoration charge of up to ₹2,000 may apply if smoking inside the cottage results in smoke odour, stains, or additional cleaning.
  3. Guests must not tamper with, move, or misuse fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, electrical safety equipment, or other emergency equipment.
  4. Candles, incense, open flames, fireworks, firecrackers, or other sources of fire are not permitted inside the cottage unless specifically approved.
  5. Outdoor fires, barbecues, or bonfires may be used only in designated areas and with prior permission. Guests must ensure that fires are completely extinguished after use.
  6. Illegal drugs, weapons, or other prohibited items are strictly forbidden on the property.
  7. Alcohol consumption must be responsible and must not result in disturbance, unsafe behaviour, or damage to the property. Guests must comply with all applicable laws and regulations concerning alcohol.

5. Noise & Neighbourhood

  1. Guests are expected to respect the peace and privacy of neighbours and other guests.
  2. Loud music, shouting, parties, or any activity that causes unreasonable disturbance are not permitted, particularly during quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
  3. The property may ask guests or visitors to reduce noise or leave the premises if their behaviour repeatedly causes disturbance.

6. Cottage & Property Care

  1. Guests are expected to treat the cottage, furniture, appliances, fixtures, garden, and other property with care.
  2. Furniture, appliances, equipment, or other items must not be removed from the cottage or moved to another location without permission.
  3. Guests must not install, attach, drill, nail, paint, or otherwise modify any part of the cottage or property.
  4. Any damage, breakage, malfunction, or loss should be reported to the property manager/caretaker as soon as it is noticed.
  5. Guests are responsible for the cost of repairing or replacing property damaged or lost during their stay, except for reasonable wear and tear.
  6. Excessive cleaning charges may apply where the cottage requires cleaning beyond normal use.
  7. Permanent or difficult-to-remove stains, burns, rips, tears, or other damage to bed linen, towels, upholstery, or other furnishings may be charged at the cost of cleaning, repair, or replacement.
  8. Guests must not use towels, bedding, or other indoor items for outdoor activities, cleaning, or purposes for which they are not intended.

7. Food & Kitchen

  1. Guests are welcome to order food from outside or use delivery services, provided the delivery is permitted by the property and does not cause disturbance or damage.
  2. Guests using the kitchen or cooking facilities must clean up after use and dispose of food waste appropriately.
  3. Strong-smelling food should not be left uncovered inside the cottage. Guests are requested to dispose of food waste promptly to avoid attracting insects or animals.

8. Pets & Animals

  1. Pets are permitted only with prior approval from the property manager. Additional conditions or charges may apply.
  2. Guests must not feed, disturb, capture, or attempt to keep wild animals or birds found around the property.
  3. Bringing illegal, protected, or restricted plants or animals onto the property is prohibited.

9. Security & Personal Belongings

  1. Guests must ensure that doors and windows are properly closed and locked whenever they leave the cottage.
  2. Guests are responsible for taking reasonable care of their personal belongings, valuables, cash, documents, and electronic devices.
  3. The management will take reasonable measures to maintain the security of the property but cannot accept responsibility for loss, theft, or damage to guests’ personal belongings except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
  4. Guests should immediately report any security concern, suspicious activity, or lost key to the property manager/caretaker.

10. Keys & Access

  1. Keys, access cards, remotes, or other access devices provided to guests must be returned at check-out.
  2. Lost or damaged keys/access devices may incur a replacement charge of up to ₹2,500, depending on the actual replacement cost and any related security expenses.
  3. Guests must not make copies of keys or share access codes with unauthorised persons.

11. Illegal or Unsafe Activities

  1. The cottage must not be used for any illegal activity or activity that may endanger people or property.
  2. Gambling, unlawful activities, harassment, threatening behaviour, or behaviour contrary to public safety or applicable law are strictly prohibited.
  3. Guests must not bring hazardous, flammable, explosive, or otherwise dangerous materials onto the property.
  4. The cottage may not be used as an office, studio, commercial workspace, or for commercial photography/video production without prior permission.

12. Environmental & Local Considerations

  1. Kerala’s natural surroundings are an important part of the experience. Guests are requested to avoid littering and to dispose of waste in the bins provided.
  2. Please help conserve water and electricity by switching off lights, air-conditioning, fans, and appliances when they are not required.
  3. Guests must not damage plants, trees, landscaping, or other natural features of the property.
  4. Please do not throw waste, food, plastics, or other materials into drains, waterways, gardens, or surrounding areas.

13. Personal Conduct

  1. Guests and their visitors must behave respectfully towards the property manager, caretaker, neighbours, staff, and other guests.
  2. Harassment, threatening behaviour, abusive language, violence, or behaviour that creates a serious disturbance will not be tolerated.
  3. Guests are responsible for ensuring that their children and accompanying visitors follow these rules and remain safe while using the property and its facilities.

14. Damage & Additional Charges

  1. Guests may be charged for any loss or damage to the cottage, furniture, appliances, equipment, linens, towels, keys, or other property caused during their stay, other than normal wear and tear.
  2. Where possible, guests will be informed of any damage and the applicable repair or replacement cost before a charge is made.
  3. If the cost of damage cannot be reasonably determined immediately, the property may charge the actual repair or replacement cost once confirmed.

15. Lost & Found

  1. Guests should inform us as soon as possible if they leave any belongings behind.
  2. We will make reasonable efforts to retain and return items that are found after departure.
  3. Items can be returned by courier or post at the guest’s expense. Delivery arrangements and charges will be confirmed with the guest before dispatch.
  4. Unclaimed items may be retained for a limited period and may subsequently be donated, disposed of, or otherwise handled at the property’s discretion, subject to applicable law.

16. Emergency & Safety

  1. In the event of an emergency, guests should immediately contact the property manager/caretaker and, where necessary, the appropriate emergency services.
  2. Guests are responsible for familiarising themselves with the location of emergency exits, fire extinguishers, first-aid supplies, and other safety facilities provided at the property.
  3. Swimming pools, balconies, outdoor areas, stairs, fireplaces, water features, and other facilities must be used responsibly and at the guest’s own risk, subject to applicable law.

17. Acceptance of the Rules

By completing a reservation and/or checking into the cottage, guests acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to comply with these rules and regulations.
